Smart Cabin

A smart card is a device that includes an embedded integrated circuit chip(ICC) that can be either a secure micro controller or equivalent intelligence with internal memory or a memory chip alone. The card connects to a reader with direct or with a remote contact-less radio frequency interface.

Introduction

Home automation is an automation technology which makes the work easier in all aspects related to home. As we are entering in a new eraof technology, home automation has an increasing significance as people are shifting from conventional switching system to centralized and remote-controlled switching system. During present times, when the whole world is suffering from COVID and companies have introduced the concept of work-from-home, an automated "Smart Cabin" is one of the dire needs of time as it enables an employee working from home to focus on his/her work without any disturbance or hindrance. This ultimately increases the efficiency and output of the employees as they can give their maximum input to their work alongwith taking time for themselves to stay relaxed, refreshed and focused. In this project, we have presented the overall design and implementation of” a low-cost Smart Cabin using Arduino and IOT”. This project focuses on the development of an IOT based home automation system that is able to control various components inside a cabin via Bluetooth and Internet through an app from any corner of the cabin

Scope of the Project

The scope of the project is to design a prototype that establishes a smartphone as remote control over a network of home appliances. The application is designed to run on android device providing features like switch mode control and voice command control. Considering its wide range of application, following are the scope of this prototype: The system can be implemented in homes, small offices and malls as well, being in-charge of control of the electrical appliances. The appliances in the abovementioned environment can be controlled in intra-network using a simple Bluetooth technology.

Objectives of the Project

The main objective of this project is to design and develop a prototype of a Smart Cabin controllable from an Android mobile application. The application must be able to perceive and act and to have various types of operation in order to obtain the purpose of maximizing user’s comfort alongwith maximizing efficiency.

The steps that should be taken to achieve the expected result are the following:

1) Determine the scope of the application and delimit the points that each mode of operation must deal with.

2) Select the components and software.

3) Electronic design.

4) Program the board.

5) Program the mobile application.

6) Build the house model.

7) Place and weld the components in the model.

8) Test and debug the application.

Working principle

All the sensors are connected to the Arduino Board and the respective appliances are connected to them.Firstly, Arduino is paired with the wifi Module and the module is connected with the Android Device having an application to control all the sensors.

For security applications, RFID sensor, and a keypad to enter a password is used which is directly connected to the LCD screen.

This "Smart Cabin" allows the user to set 3 Modes depending upon the mood of the user, which are: WORK, RECREATION and FREE, and can be controlled by the app in the user's Android Device. This enables the members of the family to know the status inside the room and act accordingly.Servo motors are installed on fragrance dispensers and the user can control the room odour by the options present in the app.

A light bulb and a fan is also connected to the Arduino Board and can directly be controlled by the user through respective sensors installed in them.

A dc motor is connected with Curtains to control the inlet of sunlight in the toom according to the user's preference.

Air Pollution detection sensors   are connected with Arduino, which sends the data directly to the app so the user can monitor it anytime and take action in case of an emergency.A buzzer is also installed with the above sensors to give a alarm if there is a gas leak.
