The safety and security of women in public and private spaces have become a matter of increasing concern in today’s world. Despite various laws, awareness programs, and technological advances, incidents of harassment, abuse, and physical violence continue to rise. A significant limitation of many safety solutions lies in their dependency on manual activation such as pressing a panic button or making a phone call which might not be possible during moments of intense fear, unconsciousness, or physical restraint.

To overcome these challenges, there is a pressing need for an intelligent, real-time, and automated system that can actively monitor the physical and physiological conditions of an individual and initiate alerts during suspicious or emergency events without requiring user interaction. This project aims to fulfill that need through the development of an IoT-based Women Safety Monitoring and Alert System.

The core objective of this system is to detect signs of distress such as sudden movement (fall or jerk), screaming, abnormal heart rate, or oxygen level drops and automatically send alerts with the user's real-time location to emergency contacts via SMS and a mobile app. To achieve this, the system uses a combination of sensors and communication modules, all controlled by the ESP32 microcontroller. Key sensors include the MPU6050 for motion detection, MAX9814 microphone module for noise sensing, and MAX30102 for monitoring heart rate and oxygen saturation. The GPS Neo-6M module provides accurate location tracking, while the GSM SIM900 module sends SMS alerts. Cloud integration is achieved via ThingSpeak, and user-friendly access is provided through the Blynk mobile app.

This introduction of a smart, wearable safety device reflects the growing relevance of Internet of Things (IoT) in personal security systems, where sensor data, cloud computing, and mobile communication converge to provide proactive protection. The project is designed to be compact, cost-effective, and user-friendly, making it accessible for a large segment of the population, including women, children, and elderly individuals.

In summary, the Women Safety Monitoring and Alert System aims not only to deter potential threats but also to provide immediate assistance and data evidence that could be valuable for post-incident investigation. By leveraging modern technology, this project contributes a meaningful step toward ensuring women’s safety in real-world scenarios.
